Training Your Dog

Everyone wants a dog that behaves: Who doesn't pull on the leash, sneak out the front door, jump on guests and a number of other bad behaviors, including making a puddle on your new carpet.Training requires consistency.

Dog behavior training is key to a happy, healthy, pet. Dog behavior training can help your dog stop excessive barking, biting, whining and almost any other behavior problem.

Puppy Training Basics

1. Crate Train: Be sure to train your puppy to be comfortable staying in a crate for an extended period of time.

2. No Jumping: Teach your puppy early and often that it is not acceptable to jump on guests when they enter your house or while they are trying to eat.

3. No Chasing:Absolutely no chasing or running after other animals or other people.

4. Stop Barking on Command: Train your dog to quit barking when told.

5. Must Not be Protective: A new puppy should never be allowed to be protective of its toys, food or bed.

6. Trustworthy When Left Alone: Make sure that your new puppy can be left alone without supervision and that when left alone he is not destructive.

7. Comfortable Outside Its Comfort Zone: Make sure that your puppy is comfortable in places other than its home so they behave at the vet, groomer's, etc.

These seven training rules will make your relationship with your new puppy a positive experience.
